Join Us for Literacy Day at the Capitol
Tuesday, February 16, 2016
Please mark your calendars for February 16th, 2016 for Literacy Day at the Capitol. The theme for the day will be “1 in 6,” because 1 in 6 Georgians over 25 lack a high school diploma or a GED.
Adult literacy advocates from across Georgia will converge on the state capitol for the Annual Literacy Day at the Capitol. This is a great opportunity for those passionate about adult basic education, English as a Second Language, family literacy and health literacy to network and discuss these important issues with state leaders.
Tentative Schedule of Events
Literacy Day Breakfast in the Blue Room of the Georgia Freight Depot co-sponsored by the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. This event will be invitation only, but we will be working with organizations and groups to help staff the event.
March to the Capitol for students, volunteers and organizers.
Capitol Tours for students and volunteers to learn about the history of the Capitol building.
Rotunda Event announcing the 2016 Literacy Advocate of the Year award.
Legislative Meetings where teams will schedule and meet with legislators to discuss the importance of literacy issues
